The T.S.K Flowmeter is a mechanical flowmeter that can measure the distance a plankton net is towed. It consists of a cylindrical housing, a four bladed impeller, and four decade recording dials that register the number of rotations of the impeller.

Water flow is recorded during horizontal and vertical tows as long as the meter is towed in a forward direction. The flowmeters are easy to calibrate, and can come with an optional factory calibration with an instrument specific formula for converting rotation counts to tow length.
