Description: The University of Georgia Marine Institute is located on the southern end of Sapelo Island, a barrier island off the central Georgia coast.

Access Information: Access by ferry from the Georgia DNR landing at Meridian, Georgia (Ownership: Leased from the state of Georgia by the University System of Georgia)

Restrictions: Access must be approved in advance by the UGAMI liason (Jon Garbisch )

Vegetation: Spartina alterniflora, saw palmetto, scrub-shrub vegetation, live oak forest
