Identifying number for each of the 8 or 9 nets in a MOCNESS tow. The first 3 digits are the Tow number and the last digit is the net number. Most tows were done with a vertically-stratified sampling scheme, with the first net being the deepest one and the following nets sequentially shallower. Some tows were horizontally-sequenced or had other sampling profiles.
